Personal information collected is not shared outside the Theosophical Society in Australia without permission.
Anonymity (in which personal information is collected through anonymous forms and surveys) and privacy will be strictly maintained. The Theosophical Society in Australia gives priority to protecting the privacy of your personal information in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act (PPIP Act).

We collect personal information for the purposes of—
- Creating and maintaining Theosophical Society Membership records, in which a person's name, contact and address information is shared with the international parent Society, The Theosophical Society based in Adyar, Chennai, India. This information may also be shared with the members relevant Lodge (Branch). Information Technology services, Local computer and online database services are provided by third parties. Other information such as birth date may be obtained for identification purposes. Financial information is not retained or shared. - Maintaining Company, property, asset and staff records and fulfilling legal obligations, particularly for responsible people, directors and office bearers, in relationship to Australian and State bodies, including the ACNC, ASIC, the Tax Office, and third party IT, accounting, pay and superannuation systems, etc.
- Creating and maintaining records, including registration records, relating to the organisation and management of Theosophical Society events, such as conventions, seminars, retreats, schools of Theosophy, lectures, workshops and other programs. For health and safety purposes we may require information relating to health, diet, mobility, requirements for the management of medicines, contact information of next of kin and carers etc. Online information is collected by third party survey systems such as Microsoft Forms. Information collected from Non-Members, such as speakers, attendees and email recipients will be equalled protected in accordance with the PPIP Act.
- Creating and maintaining records relating to the order, purchase and delivery of magazines, books and other TS educational material and merchandise, such as brooches and necklaces. Third parties manage credit and delivery services. Maintaining online records related to the search and borrowing of National and Lodge (Branch) Library books.
- Maintaining online and email marketing, contact and meeting systems with third parties, such as Mailer Lite, which may be used to send membership and meeting notices to TS members. Information and promotional event notifications are sent to TS members and public subscribers, via Mailer Lite, Meetup, Facebook, Instagram and similar services. We remind visitors not to post on social media any of their personal information of themselves and others.
- Maintaining and improving our national website, in which cookies and other forms of analytics may be used to improve the applications functionality and performance, by the application platform, developers, and providers such as Google Analytics.
Subscribing and un-Subscribing and Re-Subscribing
The option to unsubscribe from email notifications is found near the end of each email message. To change groups, un-Subscribe and re-Subscribe by selecting the link on the home page, or selecting Subscribe or re-Subscribe
Who we may share your information with
We will not disclose your information to anybody unless we are authorised or permitted to do so by law or where you have given consent.
What if I choose not to provide this information
If requested information is not provided, it may affect applications for membership, nominations for positions, elections, appointments, registrations and the delivery and use of items and services.
Storage
Information is safely and securely stored in paper form in the national office or on electronic systems managed by commercial and reputable companies.
